Any more than this will hinder optimum audio and video quality data transfer. It is made of 19 cores of copper in varying degrees of shielding. The more expensive cables are, the better it is at transferring higher resolutions over longer distances. Conclusions based on experimental observations: 1. Length of HDMI cable not critical for apple tv connectivity. 2. Quality of HDMI cable is the limiting factor. Although, I paid $80 for the bad one and only $25 for the one that works with my apple tv. 3. An HDMI cable that doesn't work with an apple tv CAN work to connect an extra screen to Cable length. The advantage in range remains strong as the video quality gets lower. At 4K and 30Hz, you can reach 20 meters in both directions, or 66 feet. That’s a total range of over 130 feet. And at 1080p and 60Hz, you can reach 30 meters in both directions, or a total range of about 200 feet. That’s four times the range of a standalone HDMI cable.
