Pattaya you can get to with a 2 hour bus ride for under $5. Hotels and local transportation is cheaper in Pattaya than than Phuket. If your time is short, for Phuket you would have to fly. If nightlife is something you will be checking out - Pattaya will be cheaper and with more choices.
Save. Gold prices are same everywhere. Stay in Bangkok. MBK Mall, Siam Paragon, Central World, Siam Square. There are dozens of shopping malls and department stores in Bangkok to visit. Pattaya is not known as a shopping mecca by any means. And you really don't have the time t ogo there and back fro a shopping trip.

Up to 1000 Euros for a 24 square meter apartment here in my condo complex in Central Pattaya. I would not consider this as cheap. Of course there are cheaper alternatives. Hey forum..I've been to bangkok twice 2017 and 2019..what I notice is how expensive everything is getting in Bangkok.Food nightlife tours..even the company of a lady..been wanting to go pattaya to see what the fuzz is all about but thinking now of it's worth going seeing how expensive everything is getting.
